The company was formed in 1980 with Ken Page and Bill Fullard manufacturing picture frames and it was called Kencraft. It started in a 600 square foot unit with Ken producing frames and Bill selling the finished products on markets. In 1981 we moved into larger premises, 1200 square foot, due to the high demand of this product. In 1982 we became a limited company and our name then became Kencraft Pictures Limited. In 1983 we moved into our present unit No 23, 5,000 square foot and within three months of moving into these premises we started to cut our own glass and within six months we started importing glass ourselves from the U.S.A. By early 1988 we stopped making picture frames and concentrated on supplying the picture frame manufacturers with glass, mirror and board. In May 1988 we changed our name to K.C. Glass Limited and in 1997 we purchased unit 16, 2,500 square foot, and knocked down the adjoining wall making the two units into one. In 1998 we purchased unit 24 an addition 10,000 square foot giving us 17,500 square feet in total. We moved into the 4mm and above thickness in 1998, two months after our purchase of unit 24. 4mm and above is generally used in the construction/replacement of windows. We have had a steady growth over the 20 years since we began and we can only see this increasing in existing markets and possibly into new market areas. |
